Have you ever thought about what it looks like to walk in unwavering faith?

Every June 29th, the Church celebrates the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul—a reminder that two very different men, one a humble fisherman and the other an educated zealot, were united in their mission to trust God above all. As we enter the 13th week of Ordinary Time, let’s be inspired by their stories to stand firm in faith, even in uncertain seasons.

Today, on this Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, I want to share how their faithful footsteps can guide us in our everyday walk. This is my personal view, and if you need deeper guidance you may want to talk with a spiritual mentor or counselor.

In this post, you’ll discover:

  1. How Peter’s boldness and Paul’s perseverance inspire us today.
  2. Practical ways to follow in their footsteps during our 13th week journey.
  3. A heartwarming challenge to live with courage, conviction, and community.

🔔 Scripture Anchor

“And I also say unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” – Matthew 16:18 KJV

This verse reminds us that Christ gave Peter a foundational role, trusting him to carry forward the gospel despite his flaws and fears.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” – Philippians 1:21 KJV

Paul’s words challenge us to find our identity not in achievements or comfort, but in Christ alone.

1. Bold Beginnings: Stepping Out Like Peter

Peter was impulsive, human, and yet chosen. Despite denying Jesus three times, he became the first Pope, boldly speaking to crowds, and guiding the early Church.

  • Say It Like You See It
  • Peter wasn’t polished—but he was passionate. When the Spirit filled him at Pentecost, he preached with conviction.
  • Try This: During prayer this week, ask God for one bold sentence of truth to share with someone—whether it’s a generous compliment, a compassionate question, or a silent prayer for someone in need.
  • Walk on Water Moments
  • Peter stepped out of the boat, literally walking on water with Jesus—but doubt sank him.
  • Encouragement: When fear asks you to stay in bed, speak up, or stay hidden—take one small step in faith.

2. Persevering Like Paul: Strength in the Struggle

Before conversion, Paul (Saul) persecuted Christians. But after meeting Christ on the road to Damascus, he became a missionary, writer, and model of steadfast faith.

  • Celebrate a Scars-as-Stories Approach
  • Paul wrote about his “thorn in the flesh,” yet found strength in weakness.
  • Try This: Reflect on a past struggle. How has God used that weakness to shape your compassion, wisdom, or character?
  • Press Toward the Goal
  • Paul reminds us: “I press toward the mark for the prize…” (Philippians 3:14). Despite jail, shipwrecks, and hunger, he preached on.
  • Encouragement: When challenges come this week, remember they don’t define you. Your goal is Jesus. Every step, small or big, moves you closer.

3. Anchored in Apostleship: Faith Beyond Individual

Peter and Paul weren’t lone wolves—they built community. Peter led the early Jewish-Christian church; Paul planted and nurtured Gentile congregations. Together, their partnership spread the gospel far and wide.

  • Value Every Voice
  • Peter shared leadership; Paul wrote letters to encourage churches whose names we still read today.
  • Try This: Send an encouraging message to someone in your church or faith community—just because.
  • Blend Boldness with Humility
  • Peter and Paul taught and rebuked, encouraged and admitted failure. Their example teaches balance: be strong, yet tenderhearted.

4. Ordinary Time Inspiration: Practical Steps This Week

As we settle into the 13th week of Ordinary Time, here’s how you can live out apostolic courage, every day:

a) Morning Breath Prayer

Begin with simple prayers like, “Lord, be my rock today.” Write it on a sticky note by your Bible or mirror.

b) Read a Bit of Acts or Paul’s Letters

Spend 5 minutes on passages like Acts 2, 1 Corinthians 15, or Philippians 4. Let these words stir your spirit.

c) Be Kind in Small Ways

Smile at the barista, let someone go ahead, or offer a basket of fresh fruits with a note: “Blessings for your day.” These tiny actions echo apostolic love.

d) Trust in Community

Share one prayer request at home, in a group chat, or with a friend. Let others carry your burdens—and return the favor. “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2 KJV.

5. Closing Encouragement

Saints Peter and Paul remind us that God chooses the imperfect to do the impossible. They were bold yet broken, passionate yet persecuted—but their foundation was not in personal perfection, but in Christ alone.

You don’t need to fix your doubts to take a step. You don’t need to be flawless to share a word of hope. You don’t have to be strong to run this race—just keep your eyes on Jesus, and He will build His Church through you.

👉 This week, let’s step out, press on, and walk together in faith—just like Peter and Paul.

✨ Ending Prayer / Blessing

Lord Jesus, like Peter and Paul, help us to walk by faith and not by sight. When we doubt, remind us You are our rock. When we struggle, remind us Your grace is enough. Use our hearts, our hands, and our humble stories to share Your love. Amen.
